Is Exercise Possible at Your Workplace?
August 20, 2019
We all know that exercise can do wonders for our health. Both physically and mentally, such activities do us the world of good in our personal lives but also in our working lives – but it’s not always the easiest thing to fit in.
Why should we encourage workplace exercise?
Organisations should have a vested interest in ensuring workplace exercise is a possibility for their employees. In America at least, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study showed that most adults don’t do the recommended amount of daily physical activity, only one in three. Organisations should try and raise this ratio, because they are big benefiters from happy, healthy and active workers.
Employees who exercise and are regularly active gain a huge amount of benefits that helps them when they are working. A workout might tire you out in the short-term, but in the long-term it gives employees more energy throughout the day. Workers who exercise, put simply, are more alert. And on top of that, it’s known that regular exercise can improve people’s immune systems. Not only will workers be alert for longer, they will be less likely to be off sick.
How to encourage workplace exercise?
Employees can be encouraged to walk more often, use the stairs and install standing desks. Organisations can offer flexible working hours, giving employees a greater chance to fit in gym visits. Another great solution would be for companies to install on-site gyms.
BioStore makes the access and integration of an office gym incredibly simple. Access to the gym, lockers, vending machines and more can all be integrated into the same Identity Management solution employees can use.
